“Bridging Literacy and Learning” in the 2025 New Jersey English Journal

We proudly present this year’s issue of New Jersey English Journal, “Bridging Literacy and Learning,” featuring 6 articles and 2 poems related to the theme. Congratulations to the authors, and thank you to my co-editor, Susan Chenelle, our peer reviewers, and the NJCTE Board.

We welcome submissions to the 2026 issue, “Visual Literacy: Curricular Relevance for Modern Students.” We ask writers to consider what role visual texts can and should play in K-12 ELA classrooms. How can teachers integrate visual texts into instruction and why should they? How do visual texts impact student engagement and development of reading/writing skills? Ultimately, how is visual literacy relevant to 21st century readers/writers?
